The awards recognise and acknowledge positive projects that help reduce fire or the effect of fire across Victoria.
With 15 award categories, the projects are open to individuals, groups, communities, organisations, companies and government bodies.
There are also grants of up to $10,000 on offer for developing projects that need a little financial nudge to encourage their completion.
With over 60 people registering interest, the CFA events girls are already seeing some valuable and innovative projects being submitted.
One such applicant is Yackandandah Fire Brigade’s John McIntyre, who is submitting his ‘water driven hose-washer’ for three awards and both grants.
“The encouragement that the Fire Awareness Awards staff members have provided has been fantastic. Without their help and support I wouldn’t have gone as far as I have”, John said, “I would strongly advise interested applicants to submit their projects, too.”
So, take this opportunity to be part of something big. Submissions can be made online at www.fireawarenessawards.com.au and entries close October 2nd. Winners will be announced and presented at the RACV Club Melbourne on December 3rd.
