Lethbridge's exercise was interrupted last Sunday morning as they were paged to assist Bannockburn CFA and Bannockburn SES to reports of a serious head on collision on the Midland Hwy near Bannockburn.

Proving that Country Fire Authority members are always ready to respond, Lethbridge went from training mode to real life when they were paged to assist at a two car collision on the Midland Highway near Bannockburn.

Crews from Bannockburn CFA along with the Bannockburn SES responded along with Victoria Police and Ambulance Victoria responding crews from Geelong and the Air Ambulance Victoria in the form of HEMS1.

Members were confronted with a severely damaged vehicle that had collided head on with another vehicle; one of the drivers escaped serious injury and refused medical assistance, the other driver was not so lucky.

CFA provided assistance as SES crews stabilised the heavily damaged car and then extricated the other driver before being treated by ambulance crews and flown to Melbourne with non-life threatening injuries.
