In the process of controlling the blaze, CFA crews from Loch Sport, Golden Beach, Sale, Longford, Seaspray used their skill and experience to protect the Esso valve station east of Trigg Track.
Esso's Production Operations Manager Simon Younger recently sent the following letter of thanks to CFA's CEO Mick Bourke.
"On behalf of Esso Australia, I would like to thank the Country Fire Authority for the tremendous support that was provided on 27 September in response to the bushfire in the Loch Sport/Seacombe area in Gippsland.
"The bushfire occurred in the vicinity of the Esso pipeline easement east of Trigg Track and was a potential threat to one of our valve stations. At all stages during the response operation, every effort was made to protect and avoid any impact to these assets which are crucial to Victoria's energy security.
"We greatly appreciate the skill and care that was demonstrated and attribute the success of the response to the leadership, coordination and teamwork displayed by your organisation, the Department of Sustainability and Environment and our Longford Plant's pipeline crew.
"Please pass on our thanks and appreciation for a job well done."
