The term ‘community engagement’ is often heard today, and can mean different things to different people.

This hands‑on practical course provides participants an opportunity to explore different aspects about community engagement, and how it relates to emergency service personnel.

The practical nature of the course provides opportunities for participants to explore useful tools to help effectively engage people in an appropriate way.

The one day session from 9am – 5pm will cover:

  • What is meant by ‘community engagement’
  • A variety of tools to help plan and carry out effective engagement
  • Creating an engagement action plan

The delivery is highly interactive with lots of opportunities to share your experiences with colleagues. Tools are introduced throughout the course to stimulate discussion with colleagues on how to best engage community members in the complex topic of fire.

Participants will leave with a clearer understanding of the term ‘community engagement’, tools and methods available and a simple process to help plan engagement activities.

This training opportunity is open to all CFA members!
