Drouin West Primary School situated directly opposite the Fire Station, know all about the importance of prevention through education having had the Bunyip Fire on Black Saturday in their backyard. 

On 13 November 2011, two teams of CFA members competed at the annual Station 2 Summit challenge at the Summit Adventure park in Trafalgar East, Gippsland. The event consists of two teams of twelve from the four different emergency services (CFA, Vic Police, Ambulance Victoria and SES) competing in various activities.

A presentation for all District 9 brigades was held at the Leongatha RSL on 4 December.  

Leongatha Korumburra Group of brigades recently held their Group exercise.

CFA has taken out the Fire Services Award for its innovative doorknocking initiative that reached more than 700 isolated and remote East Gippsland locations.

The Warragul Downtowner car park was abuzz with activity on Saturday morning as it hosted the fundraiser and family fun day for the Warragul CFA and SES.

Early in the morning at 5:30 AM on December 1, Warragul Fire Brigade members woke to an alert of a possum trapped in Warragul resident’s laundry. Warragul pumper with a crew of five, turned out to investigate.

Peter Carruthers from Leongatha Brigade recently received his 10 year service medal. 

The top brass in Gippsland felt that because the brigades in their region have embraced the Chief Officer’s request for annual burnover drills, they’d better do the same.

Warragul fire station was a hive of activity yesterday with brigade members providing bushfire planning advice, tours of the vehicles and equipment, face painting and colouring in for the kids.
