The Stratford brigade has taken community engagement to the streets, leading to some impressive results.

Asahel Heeney’s hard work and enthusiasm for her brigade has earned the 19-year-old a Firefighter of the Year award from the South Gippsland Group.

Manager Community Safety Mark Potter has been accepted into Gippsland’s longest running and most prestigious community leadership program.

Gippsland volunteers and staff still have 11 days to register their interest in the Gippsland Community Engagement Forum, which will be an opportunity to network and share ideas.

The 26th Annual East Gippsland Field Days drew record crowds this year, with thousands enjoying the sunshine and exhibitions on Friday and Saturday.

Over 100 Sandy Point and Mallacoota residents now have much better understanding of their local bushfire risk as a result of CFA Gippsland’s community bushfire exercise initiative.

Just after 5pm, Paynesville CFA was responded to a report of a car fire as a result of a MVA. 

On 20 March 2012, around 80 personnel from CFA & DSE across Gippsland conducted a 279 hectare fuel reduction burn at Providence Ponds, Fernbank (30kms west of Bairnsdale)

A large contingent of DSE and CFA resources gathered for the 1030 breifing by DSE's Mark Crouch at the Providence Ponds Reserve 18km East of Stratford, the reserve had been identified for a burn with fuel loads in the severe to extreme range.
