On 20 March 2012, around 80 personnel from CFA & DSE across Gippsland conducted a 279 hectare fuel reduction burn at Providence Ponds, Fernbank (30kms west of Bairnsdale)
A large contingent of DSE and CFA resources gathered for the 1030 breifing by DSE's Mark Crouch at the Providence Ponds Reserve 18km East of Stratford, the reserve had been identified for a burn with fuel loads in the severe to extreme range.
