Safety

All members are asked to revisits the principles as outlined in the Safe Person Approach, Dynamic Risk assessment (SPADRA).

Safety Alert #26 RE: Safety around Flood waters is now out and all personnel are requested to view and consider its contents and discuss at Brigade and Group level.

Can all brigades and personnel also please revisit the principles and practices with the CFA Hydration DVD recently issued as we have had some recent events where member wearing the new structural PPC have become quite hot and needed treatment. If brigades do not have a copy of the DVD please contact your Group/Brigade Operations officer or relevant BASO

Operations

Last Wednesday we held a TEWT (Tactical Exercise without Troops), also known as table top exercise. Present were key operational personnel from District 2 and 14 who are under the L3 Incident Management team – when established – at the Gisborne ICC. Topics discussed were focused on transfer of control – from the fireground to a facility to assist with incident management and discussion around the principles of Division Command. the general view was that there was good, healthy and at times robust discussion, which was very valuable. Brigades and Groups are encouraged to use the TEWT style to practice principles and procedures in an environment which encourages everyone to input and feel that their views are heard. Operations staff from District 14 are very happy to assist if brigades or groups would like to run a TEWT in their local area.

People News

Greg Esnouf has recently been confirmed as permanent Regional Director at North West Metropolitan Region (District 14), retaining his rank as a Deputy Chief Officer. Well done to Greg and I am sure you will all join me in welcoming Greg now that his appointment is longer term - it’s a terrific result for us!

Pauline Richardson has been appointed as the Operations Administration Support Officer and started this week, welcome to Pauline. Carly Simpson returns to us in a casual role to assist with membership data entry, welcome back Carly!

Thanks enormously to Carmen Coolman who ‘stepped up’ to assist me when Carly left to go to a position at Fiskville. Her work ethic and attention to detail was impressive, well done.

Stay safe!
