Chiltern Fire Brigade and CFA wish to thank IGA for the ongoing support they have given over many years to Chiltern Fire Brigade. IGA has donated well over $3000 to Chiltern Fire Brigade since 2004 through their Community Chest Program.

IGA have been very generous sponsors of CFA across the state of Victoria, last year distributing over $260,000 through the IGA Community Chest program to CFA brigades statewide and their support is greatly appreciated.

Chiltern Fire Brigade Captain Gary Richardson and secretary, Ian Whitaker presented Chiltern IGA proprietor, David Box with certificates of appreciation to acknowledge the fantastic support the brigade has received through Community Chest donations over the years and thanked IGA for their 2011 donation of $540.14.

“We’re only too happy to support the local fire brigade,” said David Box. “The Community Chest Program works by all IGA-branded products and selected catalogue items contributing a percentage towards the Community Chest Program.”

Captain Gary Richardson said, “Programs like the IGA Community Chest benefit the community all round. The local community uses the IGA which in turn, generates funds that contribute back through the program into community groups such as the CFA, so everyone wins. Chiltern brigade also supports surrounding smaller brigades such as Cornishtown and Browns Plains with donations so the funds are spread throughout the district as we all work together in the event of an emergency.”

Chiltern brigade works hard to protect the community and greatly appreciates the support the community gives them in their endeavours. Current projects include fundraising to build a shed behind the Chiltern fire station to house cleaning and testing facilities for Breathing Apparatus and a dedicated workshop for Fire Equipment Maintenance. Chiltern brigade conducts regular Fire Equipment Maintenance for local groups and businesses in Chiltern and the surrounding district.
