In his last regular segment for this fire season, Mr Ferguson took the opportunity to thank all CFA members for their hard work and dedication this season.
He also spoke about possible changes to the Victorian Bushfire Information Line number after a caller said it was too hard to remember. Mr Ferguson emphasised the line would remain operational and would be staffed during business hours despite the fire season being over in most of the state.
The Chief also spoke training for CFA members over the cooler months. He said members can take up opportunities to build on their skills including leadership, road rescue, incident management and aircraft operations skills courses.
Mr Ferguson said this time of year house fires are a big risk to the community. He recommended residents check their heaters, always use a grate with their fire place, don't overcrowd power boards and never deadlock yourself inside the house at night.
