Presenter Kathy Bedford interviewed the Chief of a range of topics including bushfire warnings, new WorkSafe health and safety laws and a number of current incidents, including a fire of more than 600 hectares near Edenhope.

The bushfire is now contained and 55 DSE, Parks Victoria and CFA crews will be working on the fire today.

As part of the segment, Mr Ferguson also spoke in depth about issues surrounding the Victorian Bushfire Information Line.

On Saturday afternoon and evening, fire services worked on a large fire at Waubra-Mt Beckworth.

Due to warnings being issued for this fire, including a ‘Watch and Act’, an updated message regarding this incident should have been recorded to VBIL as it was operating outside of business hours.

CFA and DSE have investigated reasons behind why this did not happen and are putting measures in place to ensure this doesn’t happen again. This includes increasing VBIL’s operating hours.
