Crews from Corio and Geelong City pulled a man from a burning house in Norlane this morning (Sat 15 Sept).

CFA was notified of the fire shortly before 7am and, on arrival, found smoke coming from a laundry out the back of the house.

Crews starting attacking the fire through a window but, as it started to take hold of the building, a decision was made to enter the smoke filled house after confirmation there was at least one person inside.

Using a thermal imaging camera, members located a man and removed him.

He was taken to hospital and is in a satisfactory condition.

The house was significantly damaged and the cause is being investigated by CFA and Victoria Police.

CFA Operations Officer Mark Collins said the rescue was performed under quite dynamic and dangerous conditions.

"I am very proud of the work our crews did today," he said.

"They performed their job extremely well."
