CFA Connect redesign

CFA Connect members are being asked to get involved in a major redesign of the site.

Since the site was launched in May 2009 CFA Connect has grown to become one of the major ways CFA communicates with volunteers, staff, and the Victorian community.

Members from across Victoria have published more than 2,300 news articles and the site now attracts more than 8,000 visitors every week.

Almost 200,000 unique visitors have viewed over 2 million pages since the site was launched.

In light of that success the redesign will be aimed at presenting the vast content contained on the site in a more user-friendly way.

CFA Online Content Coordinator Livia De Sanctis said it was an exciting time for the site.

"WIth so much content and more and more senior managers using the site to engage with members and the community we feel it's a perfect time for the redesign," she said.

"For example, there are so many interesting news articles published to the site that it's quite difficult to keep track of them all unless you visit the site every day.

"We want to make it easier for visitors to catch up on all the stories of interest to them without having to constantly monitor the site."

If you are logged in to CFA Connect you can post your suggestions and feedback on the forum.

Community members can post their feedback and suggestions using the Feedback tab at the edge of this page.

Regular updates including graphic design mockups will be posted to the site as the redesign continues.

Building System Compatibility
written by Phillip Jeeves, December 15, 2010
I wonder whether we are contacting the other fire services in Victoria ie MFB, DSE to gain some ideas and potential reduce some development time and costs. It would good if any changes that is built uses the same IT infrastructure and has some system compatibility, and thus maybe to more for our dollar. I would like to think the new era is about sharing ideas, costs and infrastructure and build system that are same.
