CFA boosts services in Eynesbury

The keys to a new CFA shed in Eynesbury will officially be handed over this CFA Sunday, 20 November.

Due to significant residential growth in the area south of Melton, CFA is establishing a presence in Eynesbury for the first time, with the addition of a new shed and truck.

The fast-track of the shed and appliance in the town has been with thanks to GEO Developments who donated $50,000 towards planning, permits, construction and materials involved with the project.

CFA Regional Manager for Northern and Western Metropolitan Region Greg Esnouf said the establishment of a permanent CFA appliance and shed would provide better protection for the developing community of Eynesbury.

“Thanks to a generous donation provided by GEO Developments, CFA has been able to fast-track its presence in Eynesbury, with plans to next year formally establish a new brigade in the town,” he said.

GEO Developments Project Executive Ted Cronin said: “GEO sees the importance of the having a fast response time in the area, and we hope that this facility will do just that.”

“We are delighted to be able to assist the CFA in both contributing to their short and long term facilities and we hope having an active CFA in Eynesbury will result in local community involvement,” he said.

Currently, Eynesbury is part of the Parwan Fire Brigade area. The new shed will allow for Parwan to situate one of its fire tankers at Eynesbury, and any current volunteers living in the area can respond on that appliance rather than travel to Parwan.

It is planned to form an official Eynesbury brigade next year. Those interested in joining the new brigade should register their interest from 11.30am this Sunday at the Baillieu Room, Eynesbury Homestead, Eynesbury.

As part of the key handover on CFA Sunday, Parwan CFA members will be on-site to answer any questions about volunteering and to discuss training for new Eynesbury members, which will begin in the New Year.

“CFA Sunday will be a great opportunity for local residents interested in forming part if this new brigade, to find out more about CFA and the essential services we offer,” Mr Esnouf said.

CFA Sunday is being held at the end of Fire Action Week which runs from November 13 – 20. Visit www.cfa.vic.gov.au/cfasunday to find a CFA Sunday event near you.
