Brigades unite in bus trip

Brigades from two Groups joined together for a bus trip to the Melbourne Fire Museum, Eastern Hill Fire Station and the ESTA call centre in Burwood.

Members from Foster, Fish Creek, Nerrena, Leongatha South, Korumburra, Tarwin lower and Loch all enjoyed a great day out with guided tours provided at all locations.

Kaylene and David Jones from Foster arranged the bus trip encouraging other brigades to participate.

The guided tour of the museum was made extremely enjoyable by our great volunteer museum guide John Williams, also an ex Foster Brigade member.

Eastern Hill visit saw members looking for bigger home stations to be able to store their “wish list” of new appliances!

ESTA gave the visiting members an opportunity to understand the difficulty of the 000 operators in trying to ascertain the whereabouts of some locations.

If your brigade has not yet had a chance to visit these locations then why not arrange a trip and Go!

My Brigade has done similar trips a few times in the last year or so.
While the Fire Museum and Eastern Hill Station are good to visit and I would encourage everyone in CFA to do so at some point, the Fire Services Museum Workshops in Newport is a must when doing so. With all the equipment and appliances stored at the workshops you will find yourself spending most of the day there and only briefly visiting the actual museum.
