The Breaking barriers newly arrived refugee camp has again happened down in the Geelong region. This year with involvement from District 14 with Hoppers Crossing firefighter Andrew Barry participating.

The Breaking Barriers camp is now in its 5th year with the City of Wyndham Youth Services, Open Family Foundation, The New Hope Foundation, Victoria Police, and the CFA involved.

CFA involment included a station visit and talk by D shift at Geelong City Fire Station followed by games down at Eastern Beach with the District 7 Community Safety Department. Then it was off to the Brisbane Ranges for 3 days of fun in the bush. As other years Adam Shearer from Geelong City participated for the 3 days, however this year he was joined by Andrew Barry from Hoppers Crossing Fire Station.

This participation from a firefighter in the City of Wyndham will provide a familiar face in the CFA for the newly arrived refugees in the Wyndham area.
