The Victoria Police Bomb Scene Examination Course contains both theoretical and practical components and allows participants to obtain further skills and knowledge in the following areas:
- Identifying bomb damage as distinct from a fuel-air explosion;
- Improving skills with respect to explosion investigation generally;
- Increasing awareness of the resources available to deal with explosions and bombings.
Over the years, a total of 22 CFA Fire Investigators have had the opportunity to attend and complete the Bomb Scene Examination Course. The course allows the Fire Investigators to maintain a high level of training in the areas of fire and explosion investigation.
With the attendance of CFA Fire Investigators at these courses, it has continued to strengthen the very good working relationship and cooperation that exist between the CFA and the Victoria Police Forensic Services Centre – Fire & Explosion Investigation Unit and the Victoria Police Arson & Explosives Squad.
