The 71-year-old was conscious but lying helplessly on the floor of her flaming Thompsons Rd unit about 10am yesterday when the passing heroes rushed to her aid.
Geelong City CFA senior station officer Mark Steven was in no doubt that the pair's brave actions had saved the woman's life.
"If these people hadn't come to her aid ... and given some more time, she wouldn't have survived it," Mr Steven said.
