A caller reported smoke coming from the roof of the unit in the early hours of this morning - it was unclear whether anyone was in the premises.
The unit was well alight when firefighters arrived and they carried out a search of the unit using breathing apparatus.
Police were called to the scene due to possible suspicious circumstances and a fire investigation will be carried out this morning.
Crews from Bendigo fire brigade took around 30 minutes to bring the fire under control.
