The past five days have been pretty busy with a number of major structure fires in Melton, and this morning (10 January) was no exception for the Melton Fire Brigade.

Several 000 calls were received for a reported house fire in Argyle Circuit, West Melton, just after midnight on Tuesday morning. One caller stated flames were coming out of the windows.

Coming into the street, it was evident with the glow in the sky that they had a major fire on their hands.

On arrival, Melton Pumper, with Senior Station Officer Michael Masters in charge, gave an immediate ‘Not Yet Under Control’ to Vicfire, with fire through the roof at one stage. With SSO Masters giving a Sitrep of “three bedroom house, brick veneer, two crews in BA, BA Stage One, at the moment, we are unable to locate the occupants…”

With the fire rapidly engulfing the house, firefighters quickly entered to perform a primary search. Thankfully, no one was home at the time.

With the RDO, and BA Support notified, an ‘Under Control’ was given as the fire was knocked down with a number of hoselines.

Appliances in attendance;

Melton – Pumper, Tanker, Pumper-Tanker, Rescue, Car.

Sunbury – BA Support.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

The OIC for this fire was Senior Station Officer Michael Masters from Melton Fire Brigade.
