Aftermath: Share your experiences

ABC Open's Aftermath: Disaster, Resilience and Recovery invites community members who have lived through a natural disaster to share their photos, write stories and make videos.

Aftermath follows people who are trying to rebuild their lives and their communities and to recover from these devastating events.

View the stories of people who experienced the 2009 Victorian bushfires, widespread flooding in Victoria, the Kimberley and southern Queensland and felt the fury of Cyclone Yasi in 2011.

While the project officially closes on 29 January, people are welcome to contribute after that date. The site will have relevance way past the contribution end date, standing almost like a historical document to illustrate what it’s been like for people recovering from disaster all around Australia.

People of all skill levels are welcome to share their stories or photos. The ABC has a team of producers based in regional Victoria to help you with ideas and learning skills in storytelling and making media.

Find out how to get involved or read the stories and view the videos already uploaded.
