The Glenmaggie community came together on Friday 21 September to pay tribute to members of the township’s fire brigade and to officially open their new fire station.

The Honourable Peter Ryan, Acting Premier, Minister Police and Emergency Services, and Peter Monds unveiled the memorial plaque for the new station.

Guests and members celebrated a combined total of 320 years’ service to the Glenmaggie community and CFA.

Finn Joost, Acting Brigade Captain who received a 30 year clasp, said he was humbled to receive the award.

“The opening of the station is a great day for the future of the brigade, but it’s equally important to recognise the people who built this brigade into what it is today” Mr Joost said.

Awards presented on the day were:

60 year clasp –         Bruce Mathieson

55 year clasp –         Peter Monds

45 year clasp –         Barry Steffen

30 year clasp –         Martin Swanson
