Gas leak for a reason

Dandenong brigade were paged to a gas leak on Gladstone Road on Monday night around 9:00 pm

When Fire Officer Caligari and his crew arrived on-scene, they found the cause of the gas leak was due to a car leaving the roadway, demolishing a 2 metre front wooden fence, crossing a driveway, hitting another paling fence and entering the side of a house crushing the gas meter along with it. Fortunately the elderly male occupant of the house who was recuperating from a hand operation earlier that day, had just got out of bed minutes before and left the room.

The house suffered extensive damage as doors were jamming and the built-in wardrobe and other furniture had been crushed in the impact. Police were trying to establish which one of the two occupants of the car was the driver.
