RSS links are not normal web pages. The page that loads up is recognised by your browser as an "RSS Feed", a type of XML code which is really just a page of regularly updated content. The best part is, you can be automatically notified when new news is added. But how do you use these links?
To use these links, you will need an RSS reader. Internet Explorer 7 and up, and Mozilla Firefox 3.0 both have an RSS Reader built into their browsers, however both have add-ons that can be much more effective and pleasant to use, for example Brief for Firefox. For others, you can download a free, small RSS reader tool. Some of the most popular free RSS readers are: Feed Reader 3.0 , GreatNews RSS Reader , Google Reader , and a host of free browser add-on's for Firefox such as Wizz RSS 3.0 . Many of them include handy customisable features such as desktop notifications, sorting of read and unread items, and browser/email integration. Mac users and Windows Vista users can even download nifty little Dashboard Widgets / Sidebar Gadgets for their desktop.
To subscribe to one of these RSS Feeds, simply click on the link, then copy the address in the browser address bar, into your RSS reader.
