Good to see gear being made that acknowledges that women need different shaped clothing than men.

Now all we need is for CFA to work with "The Fireman" publication to ensure that these same active women members, are also acknowledged in it's masthead. - Paula Treacy

FINALLY!! Cannot see why this has taken CFA so long to resolve. Since this issue was first raised, we have managed to be issued with standard boots x2 versions, standard gloves, new structure gear, t-shirts, comfort shorts (male, mind you), and wheelie bags. Everything BUT female wildfire gear!!
I am very grateful to have tried my new pants on, and can attest to them being a HUGE improvement on past models and modifications. However the drawstring is PATHETIC; a real let-down to an otherwise good design. It is supposed to be the main mode of keeping the pants up, yet it is hardly any better than a shoelace. We will be faced with the opposite problem of suspenders - trying to keep our pants up! I noticed that there are keepers around the waist - will we be issued with belts as well/instead? - Stephanie Brosnan

Good to see CFA moving forward. ;D
Still would like to see wildfire pants similar to NSW RFS rural gear that allows you to wear a belt with your pants (would be more durable than a draw-string?). - Samuel Ainslie

couldn't agree more Geoff, women in our brigade and the old group continually complained about that issue, especially when they went to Sydney late 90's and there female members already had them. It's a slow wheel sometimes but finally a result for them. - Howard Smith

Len - have you never worked with women on the fireground? How hard it is to go for a pee on the fireground with bracers. Drawstring trousers are the right way to go. Just a pity it has taken HQ so many years to work out this simple improvement. - Geoff Schmidt

Great idea, and about time. But isnt the concept of braces so that air can flow up the legs of the overtrousers, therefore creating a cooling effect as well as creating a barrier for the same reason? I stand to be corrected. - Len Wyhoon
