Wangaratta Group improving fire management

I’m a Deputy Group Officer at Wangaratta (Region 23). Our Group Officer, Graham Colson, the other Deputy Group Officers and I are keen to share our journey, from a fire prevention committee and transition to a Municipal Fire Management Committee. We’re only in the very early days of transitioning to a fire management planning committee at the moment, but we’re hoping that this blog will help other brigades going through a similar experience and maybe they can share their experience and help us too.

At Wangaratta we strongly believe that there's always room for improvement. We want to improve the way we manage fire and we're looking to Integrated Fire Management Planning (IFMP) for the answers.

Since we designated the fire prevention and preparedness folio to the Deputy Group Officers (John, Ray and myself), we've been able to develop one-on-one relationships with brigades and relieve some of the pressure on the Group Officer and the Municipal Fire Prefvention Officer.
