Bushfire Education in Secondary Schools - Teaching Professional Development

Attended by School administrators, curriculum coordinators and teachers the main discussion points were Bushfire facts and lessons learned, the empirical evidence about bushfire education and classroom-ready resources and Developing a bushfire education program for your school. Congratulations to CFA Community Development Coordinator David Williams for the great initiative in developing this program. Well done!
Community Engagement & Fire Awareness State Forum - Creswick, July 14 &15
Do you want to share local brigade initiatives that work? Do you want to network with like-minded CFA members? Are you a Lieutenant with a community safety portfolio? Do you want to learn more about community engagement? If you answered yes to any of these questions please register your interest online at www.surveymonkey.com/s/2012StateForum. I'll be attending this forum as I see a resilient community as core business within CFA and would encourage your participation.
Lasting Memories Mosaic Seat - St Andrews
I attended the opening of the new St Andrews Fire Station last week and was approached by St Andrews resident & CFA Member Mrs Nan Oats who has along with a number of other ladies from the St Andrews Community come together to share stories, laughter and tears in the form of a Mosaic Seat. While congratulating these ladies for this initiative, I'd recommend to all that if travelling to or through St Andrews, this Mosaic Seat is well worth a visit. Located at the front of the St. Andrews hall.
New State Resource Request System
The new State Resource Request System is now in effect making it easier for Resources Unit personnel to coordinate the requesting and management of resources at multi-agency events enhancing interoperability between agencies. Anyone involved in either the Resources Unit at ICC, DCC, RCC or State level, or dispatching resources should email p.luckock@cfa.vic.gov.au for login details. If you have a FireWeb log in, you can access the Training system here http://resourcerequesttraining
